Still, the offer gets him to smile some at Wade there before he’s sitting himself up a little better, legs crossed. He ducks his head, strands of white falling in front of his face as he does - stares at the blue and yellow colours of the bracelet he gently twists between his fingers. )

You feel like you don’t fit in here?

( He doesn’t look up as he asks, still staring to the bracelet he twists. )

Like you’re sort of a stranger even among your own kind?

( Mutants, he means. )

Of course. And depending on who you ask, I'm not even really a mutant. [Mutate, mutant. Potato. Pota-toh.] I definitely don't fit in. And most of the time I just ignore that feeling and plow right ahead.

[But he feels it. Just like every time he lets himself get hurt. Other times he does just sit in that feeling and lets it swallow him. Those aren't good times.]

Why do you ask? [Wade is pretty sure he knows why. He doesn't even need to be a telepath to be able to parse that one.]

( At the question, he shrugs, still fiddling with the bracelet that he keeps looking to. )

I don’t know. Just because, I guess.

( Telepaths can be hypocrites. They find it insulting for others to try and lie to them, then go and do the same thing to others. Granted, this isn’t Nate lying. He’s just… not really talking about it. Something else telepaths are bad at, what with always being able to feel everything. This is one of those times when he doesn’t really want to feel much at all, but. That involves shutting certain parts off, which he’s not looking to do. Not yet anyways.

Instead, he latches onto the gentle surprise still there with him at being gifted a bracelet and, finally, looks up from it to Wade there, holding that bracelet up some with a smile so soft it nearly masks the gloominess in his blue eyes. )

Thanks for this, though. You’re kind of weird but it’s not a bad thing. You almost feel the most normal to me sometimes.

[How fascinated and grateful that Nate seems to be over this simple gift isn't lost on him. It's simple and Wade hadn't made it to be a grand gesture, but it means something. That last comment leaves Wade a little dumbfounded, blinking. He lets out a small laugh.] I think that's the first time anyone's ever called me normal.

[They call him a lot of things, but not that.]

( Ducking his head some, the laugh that leaves him is soft and quiet, strands of white falling in front of his face as he does. Maybe it’s weird to say, but. Handling Wade’s nonsense over any sort of mutant drama is a lot more easier and normal for him.

When he looks up, he flicks those bangs out of his face, staring to him. )

You’re weren’t pestering Cable before stopping in?

I mean... I do more than that in a day. [sometimes.] I also pester some hedgehogs. And make pancakes, and I've been trying my hand at air frying.

[But he is usually attached at the hip to Cable, seeing as he's one of the few people that tolerates him. Although maybe tolerate is a strong word considering how many times the man had stabbed him.]

( His smile is gentle as he listens to Wade list off the other things he does aside from pester his big brother. Alternate… half-brother. While they may seem mundane to Wade, Nate finds them to be very low-key and normal. Things he’s still trying to find and experience for himself here amidst the missions and… everything else that happens.

The thought gets him to look back down to the bracelet, fingers brushing over the blue and yellow, knowing they match his colours which match his father’s which… is a whole other thing, too. )

Do you find it tough to be around so many others? ( So many mutants. ) I think maybe you do but also you like having others around, right? I’m still trying to figure that out here.

( Working with others, living with them, navigating everything that comes with talking to others. It’s just been… a lot for him lately. A lot that he’s not used to. He huffs a little then. Tilts his head some, licks over his lips, gaze on that bracelet. )

I feel like I mess things up too much.

I do like having others around. [He concedes that and considers the rest and how to say what he's thinking.] I don't find it tough, really, I just... I know how I am.

[Wade looks at Nate, seriousness taking hold in his gaze, letting those walls drop as he does.] Take it from probably the multi-verse's biggest fuck up, I don't think you have anything to worry about. People care about you. They want you around and would help you figure it all out.

[He's not convinced most of them would even care if Wade blew up and finally never came back. Except maybe Cable? Even that he's not entirely sure about sometimes.]

And if you need space from them for a bit too, I'm sure they'd give it to you. If that's what you need.

( Laying himself back against the bed, blue eyes watch Wade there as he listens to him, noting how serious he seems to come off as he speaks. He tucks an arm under his head there, cheek pressing into elbow while his other hand still rolls the bracelet around a bit, looking between it and Wade. )

You don’t think people care about you?

( He drops his hand with the bracelet down some, looking just to Wade now as he asks. )

You don’t seem like that much of a fuck up to me.

Here? Not really. [Just being honest.] Back home, I've got some people that care, even if they... [Wade pauses, shaking his head thinking of Vanessa. She cared about him, but didn't love him enough anymore to be with him.] Even if they don't care about me as much as I'd like.

And you only think that because I wasn't on that mission with you.

( He’s silent as he mulls over the other’s words - as he takes in what is and isn’t being said simultaneously. )

I’m sorry. ( The words are soft and genuine as those blue eyes stare to him. ) I know what it’s like. To care about someone who doesn’t maybe care about you as much as you’d like… or like you thought.

( His gaze drops back to the bracelet and he sighs, pushing himself up onto his elbows. )

It sucks. But I guess we just gotta get over it and move on, right?

Not like you made my fiancée break up with me. [It's probably better that way, though. He's less likely to kill her again. He smiles sadly, giving Nate a smack on the shoulder before he moves to get up from the bed.

He's insanely curious who this 'someone' is that Nate's thinking about-- because he's a nosey little shit, and he loves the little tidbits of mutant drama. It's like the Young of the X-Restless around here.] Right? Cause who needs therapy? Not me, that's for sure.

[He doesn't want to sit in his head long enough for that.] How long you been holed up in this room? We should go do something. We could get drunk? Eat our weight in Ding Dongs? Break some shit?

( He’s had enough mutant drama, thanks. Small as it’s been, it’s more than he’s ever had before and he’s ready to tap out.

When Wade gets himself up, he lifts his brows in both surprise and confusion the moment those suggestions start coming. Bracelet still in hand, it rests there on the bed with him and he tilts his head some as he blinks those bright baby blues of his. )

You have a healing factor, don’t you? Doesn’t that mean you can’t get drunk?

I can... I just have to drink an absurd amount very quickly. And the effects don't last very long. But I'm not a quitter.

[It's a much too fleeting feeling for how expensive it can get.] But, hey, it just means I'll be sober enough to hold back your bangs if you need to hurl your guts out.

That doesn’t really sound like a fun time for you.

( The whole holding his bangs back and what not. Even though he doubts such a thing would even happen to him, thanks. Still, he pushes himself up more on the bed and then gets himself off it, taking the blue and yellow bracelet with him as he does.

Hand out, palm up, he offers it to Wade. )

[He watches Nate as he moves, looking down at the palm held out. Truthfully, Wade barely knows Nate, so perhaps he shouldn't say yes to that question, but he does trust him. Also his curiosity won't let him say anything else.] Of course. [He slaps his hand down onto Nate's offered one.]

( Oh. Well. He was going to be nice about this, but. While he doesn’t understand the Fall Out Boy part of that, the sulking he does and so that earns Wade a bumpy ride. )

Know what’s just as bad as lying to a psionic? Insulting one.

( And with that, fingers grip tight to Wade’s hand and he’s pulling him along as he flies out the window. Quickly. Very, very quickly. Because, yes. He’s taking them somewhere via air, though it’s with Wade in tow via being held by his hand and he’s… maybe letting him dangle as he goes rather than keeping him up alongside him. He’s sure Wade can handle it and hell, some part of him might even enjoy how dangerous it feels to be dangling like this from Nate’s hand, but. That’s the way this ride is going. Hopefully he doesn’t lose his shorts against the wind. )

[Wade hadn't said it to upset him; he honestly doesn't think at all before he speaks. If it enters his mind, it usually comes out of his mouth two seconds later.]

Insulting you, I was j-- fuck! [And he's being dragged out the window. There is a string of curses from his mouth before he finally settles, gripping to Nate's hand tightly. Just because he could fall and survive doesn't mean he's eager to plummet. Not that he'd care too much if he did. And the thrill does do a little something for him. Nate's not wrong.

And so far at least his shorts are holding strong.] I wasn't trying to insult you, just making a joke. That's what friends do, give each other shit!

( For the record, he’s not actually mad or anything, but. He does give a glance down to the dangling mutant there he’s pulling along and despite the way his brow raises as if in disbelief, he can’t help the soft chuckle there under his breath at the sight. Heh.

He flies them through the sky with a quickness, bringing them to one of the bars around here and, as he descends to the ground, with an underarm throw, albeit a somewhat gentle one, he lets go of Wade’s hand and lets him roll to the ground. Thankfully, the drop isn’t that high from the ground. A moment later, he taps himself down gently near the place and takes a look at it curiously. )

I haven’t ever been here before. But I guess now’s as good as ever, right?

[And roll he does. It's mostly graceful, aside from his ass skidding on the pavement at the end there. His butt cheeks will only have minor road rash, don't worry. And it'll be healed in seconds. Dusting himself off, Wade gets to his feet and looks at the bar entrance in front of them.]

That's the spirit. I haven't been here either, but I'm sure it'll be fine. [It'll have liquor. And it's free. That's all Wade needs to know.] You ever drink before?

[He knows Nate's not exactly of legal age in the US. But he would be in Canada!]

I've had one or two here before.

( Granted, those had been his first ever times actually consuming alcohol, but. You know. Gotta start somewhere and all.

With a glance over to Wade, he nods for the other mutant to make his way in with him because, you know what? He's going to do this. Granted, he's been trying not to be as impulsive as of late with things, but. With how everything's been with him as of late? Screw it.

He shuts certain parts of his mind down — shuts himself off from others and prevents them from peeking in as he stands there in the bar and takes a look around. They're really the only ones in here as of right now, aside from the bots, and he glances to one that passes them by before he's heading over to one of the booths and stands there before he takes a seat, looking around. What is there... to drink... and what's even good?

When prompted by a bot, he just... says whatever. )

Whiskey on the rocks. Make it strong.

( Perfect. )

[Wade lets out a low whistle at Nate's drink order.] Well, shit. Look at you with the badass drink order.

[He wonders if Nate even knows what he's ordering? Ah, well. It'll grow hair on his chest? Or something. He looks up to the bot.] Make that two. Or what the hell, just bring over the whole bottle and two glasses with ice.

[Since the point is to get Nate drunk.]

( Yes. Look at him. Ordering something that’s likely to destroy him, but. That’s the point of this, right? So why not go all the way?

He takes his seat when Wade adds to the order and sits there in the booth, looking around the place. Again, it’s nothing he can recall having seen back on his world, but he knows they’re a thing on Earth, same with pubs and diners.

When their drinks arrive, swiftly as they do, he looks back to Wade as he pulls his glass towards him. )

So you had a fiancée?

Did I say that? [He sometimes forgets the words that come out of his mouth. It's hard to keep up with himself. He pours them both a hefty sum of liquor into each glass.]

I did, yeah. She died because of me. I stole Cable's time travel device to stop it and saved her... but it didn't work out after that though. But maybe she's better off, seeing as I'm the reason she got killed the first time.
