[Wade lets out a low whistle at Nate's drink order.] Well, shit. Look at you with the badass drink order.

[He wonders if Nate even knows what he's ordering? Ah, well. It'll grow hair on his chest? Or something. He looks up to the bot.] Make that two. Or what the hell, just bring over the whole bottle and two glasses with ice.

[Since the point is to get Nate drunk.]

( Yes. Look at him. Ordering something that’s likely to destroy him, but. That’s the point of this, right? So why not go all the way?

He takes his seat when Wade adds to the order and sits there in the booth, looking around the place. Again, it’s nothing he can recall having seen back on his world, but he knows they’re a thing on Earth, same with pubs and diners.

When their drinks arrive, swiftly as they do, he looks back to Wade as he pulls his glass towards him. )

So you had a fiancée?

Did I say that? [He sometimes forgets the words that come out of his mouth. It's hard to keep up with himself. He pours them both a hefty sum of liquor into each glass.]

I did, yeah. She died because of me. I stole Cable's time travel device to stop it and saved her... but it didn't work out after that though. But maybe she's better off, seeing as I'm the reason she got killed the first time.

( He’s not entirely sure what he expected to hear, but. That’s not anything he could have put money down on and won. Drink in hand, he looks down to the ice cube floating in the alcohol and he frowns some as he lifts the glass up. )

I’m sorry. That… everything happened.

( Her dying then being brought back and it not working out. He can’t really relate, but. He can understand the feelings that come with it not seeming to work despite the hardships that happen. At that, he offers him a smile, soft with reassurance. )

Only gets better from here?

( Maybe?? Hell if he knows. )

[But it can't be changed. At least she's alive to make those kinds of decisions. And maybe there's some chance they'll get back together. Stranger things have happened.]

I love the optimism-- [Wade clinks his glass against Nate's before tossing his drink back.] But hey, at least this means I can play the field? You know that large field of people that are super into burn victims.

[He knows finding someone like Vanessa who'd also been into Wade's whole.. everything had been one in a million. Or at least that's what it feels like.]

You’d be surprised. We’re mutants. We’re into a lot of things.

( Smile on his lips, he indulges in a sip of his drink and… yowza. That’s strong. The face he pulls shows how much it is but he shakes it off and helps himself to another sip… a sip that turns into him gulping it all down to the point where the ice hits his teeth.

Blue eyes blinking widely, he wipes the back of his hand across his mouth and goes for another round, telekinetically pouring the whiskey into his glass. )

So, you know. You could get lucky.

[He's just about to tell Nate to take it slow, eyes wide at how he takes that last sip with vigor. Wade wants to help him unwind, not get alcohol poisoning. Blinking, he looks around like maybe he's on camera.]

I guess I could? [Nate's not-- is he? He clears his throat. Wade fills up his own glass after Nate finishes with filling his own.] Although, like, half of you are teenagers... or close enough to it.

( Is he? Would it be so bad? Who knows. All he does is help himself there to that second glass and take another long sip of it, blue eyes sparkling a little as he does. )

Only half. Besides, we're here, aren't we? Away from where we usually are and where things are a lot more different than how they tend to be.

( He shrugs, sitting back some in his seat as he floats his glass over to him. )

This place is filled with experiences from the looks of it.

I suppose you have a point? [Does he? Wade's not sure, but he'll play along. He sips his drink, trying to act casual.]

Is that what you've been trying to do? Get filled with experiences?

( Catching his drink, he takes a moment to finish it off and licks over his lips, huff soft on them. )

More like try something normal. You know... about as normal as things can get for people like us.

( Mutants. )

Back home— on Earth... there's so many mutant politics and fighting. Wars. Agendas that this mutant and that mutant has. It's like asking for a break from it is some sort of taboo or something... and that's not when they're hunting you down to be some pawn in their game to give them a win. Here? Not really a lot of that.

We're all here, pawns in Echo's game instead, so we don't have time for our own bullshit. I've got you. I tried normal normal for a bit. I sold used cars and wore a toupee. That didn't last long.

But I can try being normal for me. [Whatever that meant. He'd have to find out.] I keep trying to be somebody for someone else. Be an X-Men like Colossus wanted, have a normal life for Vanessa, be the hero for the universe.

Guess I've got time now to figure it out.

( Shaking his head, he sets his glass down. )

Don't do that. Be somebody or something for someone else. You should be who you want to be. Whoever that is, however he is, in whatever moment you're in. You're more than what other people want you to be or think you should be.

( Looking to his empty glass there, he blinks slowly before he's floating it back to the table and moving his fingers to pour them both a little more. )

And even though we're here and we're still not sure about Echo and Aurora and now her brother, when we don't have missions? That's when we figure other stuff out. However that is. With whoever.

( To which he offers Wade a smile. )

Ah, but see if I do what you say... am I then just trying to be what you want me to be? [He taps the side of his head.] That a mindfuck right there.

[He watches him float the glass back.] And you might want to slow down on the drinks, or you'll be figuring stuff out with the floor, bud. And I don't think this linoleum is a gentle lover... or STD free.

[Seriously, did the bots even clean it? Back to the point at hand, it is good seeing Nate smile. Better than the moping mess he'd been.]

But I read you loud and clear. I'm gonna sow my oats in my free time and just fuck everything that moves! Consenting things, obviously. [Is he getting this right?]

( The way Wade phrases his plan of action gets Nate to first blink then chuckle a little. It’s not really all that funny. He’s just got a bit of a buzz going right now. That and, well, the way he puts it makes him think about things in his life and how much of a mess they are. Were? Does anything even count anymore with being here? Who knows.

He does, however, raise a brow at the thought to slow down and simply pulls his freshly filled glass into his hand. )

Is that what you want to do? I mean… you can. People do it here. With more than one person, too. Not at the same time though.

( He stares to the bottom of his glass, chuckles again, then downs the shot and hums at the burn spilling down his throat. )

But, you know. I know it sucks. I mean… I thought someone cared about me but they left. Just disappeared. Then I found out she was just leading me to her master for his plan. So, you know. That sucks. Thinking it was more than some job for them. That I was a job. Target, I guess.

( Sigh on his lips, he looks back up to the other mutant. )

So, I’m sorry. I get it and it sucks. But at least we’re here now, right?

[Wade watches him go right in for another shot despite the warning. Well, shit. He's not going to stop him by force. He'll just have to make sure that he didn't pass out in his own vomit if it came to that.

He pours himself another shot-- if only to lessen the amount in the bottle for Nate.] If it's not at the same time, what even is the point? Threesomes, moresomes, orgies? Bring it on.

[Not that Wade's had any such thing in a long time.]

At least we're here now. [Here isn't great, but it's better than whatever mess Nate had just described, that's for sure.] If anyone does that shit to you here, you've got me and a load of other people to watch your back.

( He smiles at Wade’s being there for him and pulls himself up to rest on his elbows there against the table, glass beside him, their bottle they’d been given about half-full now. )

Thanks. Same for you. We'll look out for each other, right?

( A beat, he tilts his head some, those blue eyes sparkling playfully as his smile becomes warm, couple strands of those white hairs of his bangs falling in front of his face. )

Be there for each other? And… help each other. Whatever the other needs.

( Whatever the other needs indeed. )

Right. We'll look out for each other.

[Wade is staring. Is this really happening right now? He clears his throat, wetting his lips. Hitting on Nate when he figured the young man would have zero interest is one thing, now he doesn't really know what to do with himself with the shoe marginally on the other foot.]

Easy there, cowboy, you keep undressing me with your big blue eyes like that and a lady is going to get ideas. [He's already got ideas, and this isn't helping. But Nate's drunk and drowning his sorrows, and this feels like taking advantage. Wade's an asshole, but not that kind of asshole.]

( Those big blue eyes of his blink a couple times when Wade goes and says that and… he stares, seeming confused for a moment before he’s chuckling into his glass. )

Why would I undress you with my eyes when I have my mind to do that?

( That just seems weird, Wade. Also, he’s not drunk, thanks. Just a little buzzed which is probably what he needs right now as a distraction from feeling everything else that isn’t this. But with his glass empty, he sets it down with a soft huff and rubs at an eye with a knuckle. )

Also, you’re difficult to read. Are you doing that on purpose?

( Normally he just picks up on things from others — thoughts and feelings — but Wade is… difficult to pin down, it seems, and he’s not entirely sure why. )

You're not trying to read my mind, are you? [Now it's Wade's turn to drink.] You don't want to do that if you are. Not a nice place, my head. I don't even like to be there.

It's a mess. That's probably why it's hard. I didn't get my powers like the rest of mutants usually do. They were tortured out of me.

I’m not trying. I just sometimes pick up on things from others without even realizing it but I don’t really feel anything from you.

( It’s the more empathic side of him playing with his telepathy. How he just suddenly feels a shift in the mood or environment around him, almost always because of someone or something he’s around, but. He doesn’t seem to be feeling that with Wade. Not passively anyways. So of course he’s curious.

Shrug of his shoulders, he smiles to the other. )

Was making me wonder if you were shy or something.

Shy... no one's ever called me that. [With the number of times he's accidentally flashed people his balls, clearly he's not. About certain things, anyway.]

It's probably because I shut a lot of myself off. From myself. [He makes a little cheers motion with his drink and downs the rest of what he has.] I prefer to live in the moment? Can't spend too long in my own head.

( The buzz he has makes him feel light and loopy. A lot more relaxed than he’s been in awhile and, because of that, maybe he amps up his confidence a little alongside feeling more open himself. Arms crossing, he leans himself onto the table there, blue eyes bright and sparkling with curiosity while his smile slowly bleeds into a playful little grin. )

Yeah? So what do you wanna do in this moment right here?

In this particular exact moment? [That is the question, isn't it? That playful, knowing grin isn't helping. Wade finds himself leaning closer too to match Nate. Two can play that game, mister. His eyes flicker to his mouth and then back to his eyes.] Something that's might need a Not Safe For Work tag if you're not careful.

( He doesn’t get it really, but he also sort of does at the same time? Wade sometimes has a strange way of simultaneously making sense and not, something he’s beginning to pick up on with the other; he still prefers his chaos and confusion over everything else he’s got going on, really. Which is exactly why he keeps himself as he is and lets those blue eyes of his roam across the others face. No disgust or sympathy there in his eyes for those scars. Just a playful little smile on his lips as he cants his head the other way. )

Maybe I don’t want to be careful.

[There are some things about Nate that are like Cable, but ultimately he's really not like at him at all, really. So while the attraction he's feeling right now is wrapped up in that a fair bit, it's not all that's there. Nate is sweet. Funny. Good. Not that he really knows that for sure, it's just his general aura. The way he's looking at him right now, without an ounce of disgust too? That's nice.]

You could do a lot better than me, you know. If you wanted this kind of distraction. [Wade's not good. He's a mess, and he knows it. He's still leaning in closer, lips nearly touching Nate's.] And this isn't why I gave you that bracelet...
