[It takes Wade a moment to figure out what's happening. He hallucinates so often it's sometimes hard to differentiate reality from fantasy.]

I only just saw her, too...
She was sad about Cable leaving.

[Maybe it's why she's gone? Did it work like that? Could it?]

( wade being wade, that's fair. )

I figure you'll be next to go.

Why do you say that?

[It could be you, instead. Leaving me even more alone instead... he thinks that too but tries to keep it to himself. It's possible that Nate will hear it anyway, he doesn't know how this mind talking thing works.]

( he hears it. of course he does. )

Because everyone I care about leaves or dies.

( so. you know. lol his life and all. )

...you care about me?

[Not really the point of this conversation, Wade. But he can't help but latch onto it. Most of the time, he feels tolerated rather than liked. And maybe it should be obvious, considering what they'd done, but Wade is still somehow surprised.

And touched.]

I don't want to leave. I will kick everyone's ass if they try to take me.

[As though he could stop it. But he'd stopped plenty of impossible things before!]

( it's not the point, no. but it's out there? of course he cares. he doesn't sleep with people he doesn't care about. he just... doesn't have it in him to do that. even if maybe he should. wade's insistence on his determination to not be taken gets him to smile a little despite the topic of conversation. )

I know you'd try.

( because that's just a very wade thing to do. )

( floating in the sky in his little bubble. )

[Wade stops in his tracks on the street. He'd been on his way for some food-- which is pretty typical for him, considering the way he ate. Looking up, he blinks.]

What are you doing up there, Glenda?

[overconfidently]

It feels safe up here.

( yet at that, he gently floats down from his bubble, letting it fall away from him as he taps down there in front of wade. no more telepathy. )

Hi.

[fourthwalled]

Hi. [He offers back, sliding up his mask to greet him properly. And, well, yeah, he's going to give him a hug. Deal with it.]

[overconfidently]

( for a moment he just stands there until those arms of his come up and wrap around the other mutant. he holds him close — lets blue eyes fall shut and gently rests his head against wade's, just wanting to hold him in case this might be the last time he does. )

It's nice to know you're real.

( for now anyways. )

[He squeezes Nate a bit harder, maybe even a bit too hard. Wade's been feeling pretty aimless in this place, so far from those he cares about back home. From his found family. But he's been trying to find that here. People to care for and that care about him.]

Did you think maybe I wasn't?

[overconfidently]

( holding tight to him, he noses at wade's temple for a moment before he pulls back just enough to look to the other mutant there, strands of white hair falling in front of his face there as he does. )

Julian's gone, too. That's three of us so close to each other.

( mutants, he means. )

[And that leaves Wade distracted because why's Nate gotta look like a goddamn 90s boy band member even while he's sad? He reaches a hand to his face, pushing aside the strands of hair that only fall right back into his face.]

Maybe it's like when celebrities die. The rule of threes? Maybe that'll be the end of it? [It's a weak answer, and he can feel it even as he says it. But he's just as worried if he's being honest with himself. And did leaving mean their universes were doomed? If Wade disappeared, would he lose Nate, everyone here, and his timeline?]

[overconfidently]

( blue eyes fall shut as wade goes and brushes his hair from his face, only for those strands of white to fall right back where they were. opening, his left eye flickers gold for a moment then. )

It better be or else I'll end everything myself. Especially if you go.

[fourthwalled]

Woah. [He holds up a hand, the other still holding to Nate.] Not that I'm not super into the fact that you'd end everything for me-- that's hot as hell, but-- maybe don't do that?

I'd still like things to exist. And if there's anything that can be done to save my universe, I'd appreciate it if that could still happen.

[overconfidently]

( again, the eye flickers. )

Maybe I should save it myself. Save all of you. Destroy Aurora and Echo. Who says they get to decide which worlds are saved and which aren't? Who stays and who goes?

( is this nate or the anomaly talking? a mystery. )

Ummm... right. [Wade is a little unsettled by that, but also seems in no rush to pull away.] You feeling okay, bud?

[He's starting to feel odd, too, himself, but that's pretty typical. And has been even more so over the past several days. But the more upset Nate gets, the more protective he's starting to feel himself.] Maybe it's me who should save you? Ever think of that? Could happen.

[overconfidently]

( at that, he affectionately brushes his hand along the curve of wade's neck, watching him as he does. )

We'll protect each other. Right?

[fourthwalled]

Right. I'll just protect you a little bit more. [He teases, finding himself leaning back toward Nate's hand.] I'll be so good at protecting you that you won't even know any protecting was happening! Like a protection ninja.

[overconfidently]

That's not your name here, is it?

( since they have codenames and all with different identities. supposedly anyways. )

No, no. I'm the Gentle Marksman. And my name name is Steve McCheese...

[Serves him right for joking with Aurora.] What's your name here?

[overconfidently]

( rather than answer the question, he goes and steals a kiss from the man’s lips right there on the street they’re on, absolutely no hesitation or second thoughts had. the kiss itself is one which is sweet and soft, a brush of lips against wade’s own that lingers for a moment that seems to stretch into eternity before he’s pulling back just enough to look to him with those bright blue eyes of his. )

( kiss him, he means. )

[That's certainly one way to distract Wade Wilson, no matter how the Anomaly is effecting him. He's annoyingly do-gooder and doesn't swear every other word, but he's still Wade. He's still desperate for affection, still intensely drawn to Nate.

He's leaning forward into the kiss so much that he stumbles with Nate finally pulls back.] S'okay... I mean, you can do that... whenever you feel the urge... like anytime.

What were we talking about again?
